Good morning, and happy Saturday. Hold the warm mug in both hands for a minute and let the house be quiet around you. Nobody needs anything from you yet, and God already has His face turned your way.
"My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up." — Psalm 5:3 (KJV)
This morning's prayer Lord, you hear my voice, so here it is, rough and low from sleep. I won't polish it. I point this prayer at you the way you point at a door you know is open. Thank you for the quiet in the house, for the kettle, for the light finding the edge of the table. Thank you that Saturday has no alarm in it. I'll say what I need, and then I'll look up. Not at my phone. Up. Past the ceiling and past the worry, to your face. You are good at mornings. You always have been. Let me expect something from you today: a small kindness, a door held open, a laugh I didn't plan. Amen.
Today, on purpose:
Say one honest sentence to God before touching my phone.
Step outside for two minutes and actually look at the sky.
Notice one small good thing today and thank Him out loud.
