Thursday has found you with the coffee going lukewarm and the week still heavy in your shoulders. Here is a small secret from the old Hebrew: the word behind "commit" means to roll. Set your shoulder down, because something stronger than you is ready to take the weight.
"Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass." — Psalm 37:5 (KJV)
This morning's prayer Lord, the old word for commit means roll, so I'm rolling it to You. The meeting I dread. The bill on the counter. The conversation I keep rehearsing in the shower. I've been shoving it uphill like a stubborn barrel, and You've been standing at the top with open hands. Take it. Let my arms swing free today. I trust You, not because I can see the road, but because I know Your face. You finish what You start. You bring things to pass the way a river reaches the sea, without hurry and without fail. I'll do the next small thing in front of me and leave the outcome with You. I'm walking light this morning. Amen.
Today, on purpose:
Name one heavy thing aloud and give it to God.
Do only the next step, then breathe.
Walk lighter; notice when your shoulders creep up.
