Thursday light comes through the blinds in thin gold strips, Lord, and here I am again, still standing, still breathing. You could have let yesterday finish me. You didn't.
"It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." — Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV)
This morning's prayer Lord, I open my eyes and find myself still here — not because I earned another day, but because you would not let the fire of yesterday burn me down to nothing. Your compassion met me before my alarm did. Thank you for mercy that doesn't run dry, for faithfulness that doesn't check my track record before showing up. Give me eyes today to see your steady hand in ordinary things — coffee steam, a child's laugh, green lights in a row. Keep me from hoarding worry like it's mine to carry. It isn't. It's yours. Teach me to walk light, because you walk ahead. Amen.
Today, on purpose:
Thank God before checking your phone today.
Offer one kind word to someone tired.
Trust him with tomorrow instead of hoarding worry.
