The dishes can dry in the rack. The phone can buzz itself quiet on the counter, and the list on the refrigerator door will keep its ink until morning. Whatever you carried through today's doorways, set it down on the mat and let the latch click behind you.
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." — Psalm 91:1 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer Father, I have come in from the long road, and my shoes are dusty. You left the door open, just as You said You would. I step into the secret place, where no one needs anything from me but You. Your shadow falls across me, and it is warm. It means You are standing close. Mend what I tore today. Finish what I couldn't. Keep watch over every sleeping person I love, and over the street outside my window. Thank You for the laughter I heard today, for bread on the table, and for this soft dark that smells of rest. Thank You for staying. Amen.
Blessing for your rest May the Almighty's shadow lie gently over you and everyone under your roof tonight. Sleep well, dear one, and wake to mercy already waiting.
