Let the dishes sit in the sink and the phone go dark on the nightstand. The list on the counter has waited all day, and it can wait one more night. Whatever was loud today has finally run out of breath.
"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." — Matthew 6:34 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer Father, today had its own troubles, and You walked me through every one. Now I set down the dishes I didn't finish, the messages still unanswered, the questions I can't solve yet. Tomorrow is a letter still in the mail, sealed and on its way, and You are already standing at the door where it will arrive. I don't need to read it tonight. Give me sleep as deep as a dog stretched out by a warm stove. When morning comes, stand beside me while I open it. Thank You for today's bread, today's laughter, and this soft bed. Amen.
Blessing for your rest May the Lord keep the door of this house and the dreams of everyone under its roof. Sleep well, dear one. Morning will find you with enough.
