Only a Coat Upon the Chair

🕊 Let Providence read it to you

The phone is face down now, and the dishwasher has finished its long grumble. Whatever is left on the list will keep, written in pencil for morning. Let the day's loud voices drift down the hall and out of earshot.

"I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears."
— Psalm 34:4 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer
Lord, I came looking for you tonight, and you were already listening. You always are. Thank you that you hear the small voice as well as the loud one. The worries I carried in today, I set down with you now. You know their names better than I do. You have walked me out of fears before, and you will again. Let the shape in the corner be only a coat on a chair. Let the dark be the kind that rests my eyes. I trust you with everything I cannot see from here. Thank you for hearing me. Thank you for every fear you have carried away. Amen.
Blessing for your rest
May the Lord who hears you stand watch over your sleep tonight, and may every fear find the door already open and walk out of it. Peace to you and to everyone under your roof, until the morning comes up gold.

Have Providence read you to sleep
