The dishwasher has finished its rinse and gone quiet. The list on the fridge can keep until morning, and the texts you never answered will not spoil by sunrise. Whatever came flying at you today has dropped into the grass.
"Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day." — Psalm 91:5 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer Father, the house is ticking as it cools, and I know that sound now. It is only wood and pipe and you keeping watch. The arrows of this day have fallen, spent, and I will not go out to count them. If the dark stirs, let me hear a creaking stair and think: home. Fear has no key to this door, and you do. Thank you for the roof over me, for the ones breathing softly down the hall, and for the small mercies I missed that you did not. Morning is already folded and waiting. Thank you for today, and for tonight. Amen.
Blessing for your rest May the Lord who never sleeps keep every latch, every window, and every dreaming head in your house. Goodnight, dear one. Sleep sweet and sleep unafraid.
