The Pantry Shelves Are Full Tonight

🕊 Let Providence read it to you

The dishwasher has finished its humming, and the last shoe is by the door. The unanswered messages will keep, and so will the sock without a mate and the call you meant to make. Nothing on that list is going anywhere tonight.

"Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee."
— Psalm 116:7 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer
Lord, my soul has been out all day, running errands and answering knocks. Tonight I call it back, as the psalmist did. You have dealt bountifully with me, and I want to walk the shelves slowly: bread still warm this morning, a friend's laugh over the fence, rain on the roof, a hand that held mine when I was afraid. Jars I forgot I had put up. Nothing I earned, all of it given. Let my soul sit down among them like someone at a full table, unhurried and fed. I don't need to count them all. You have. Thank you for every shelf, and for the hand that keeps stocking them.
Blessing for your rest
May the Lord who fills the shelves fill your house with deep sleep tonight, and keep every sleeper under your roof in His unhurried care. Goodnight, and sweet dreams.

Have Providence read you to sleep
