Close the laptop. Turn the stove light off. The emails will keep till morning, the folded laundry will wait on the chair, and the worry you carried up the stairs can stay there — you don't have to bring it into bed with you.
"It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep." — Psalm 127:2 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer Father, I've been rising early and staying up late, trying to build something only You can build. Tonight I stop. I hand You the striving, the ledger of things left undone, the ache of trying to earn what You already meant to give me. You said sleep comes to those You love, not those who wear themselves thin proving it. So I lie down as Your beloved, not Your employee. Thank You for a bed, for breath, for this ordinary evening, for a God who lets tired people rest. I'm grateful. Goodnight.
Blessing for your rest May your body grow heavy and your thoughts grow slow, and may this house hold nothing tonight but peace. Sleep well, beloved — you are held, and there is nothing left for you to do.
