Let the dishes wait in the sink and the inbox blink unread. The day's small emergencies can sit in the dark until morning finds them. Your soul has permission to stop pacing the house of your worries and come sit by the fire instead.
"Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee." — Psalm 116:7 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer Lord, I've been running all day, and I didn't even notice how far from rest I'd wandered. Call me back now. You have been so good to me — good in ways I named today and a hundred ways I never noticed. The bread on my table, the breath in my lungs, the faces I love under this same roof tonight. I lay down the running. I lay down the reaching. Let my soul come home and be still in You. Thank You for dealing so bountifully with someone as ordinary as me.
Blessing for your rest Go home now, soul, and rest — you were never meant to sleep on the porch when the house was already yours. Peace over you and everyone breathing under your roof tonight.
