Even Bitter Ingredients Can Become Bread

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."
— Romans 8:28 (KJV)

Nobody eats flour by the spoonful. Salt on its own is harsh, and yeast is not much to look at. Yet in a baker's hands, these plain things are kneaded, given time, and turned into warm bread that fills a whole house with comfort. Paul's words in Romans 8:28 work in a similar way. He does not say every single thing is good. He says God works all things together for good for those who love Him.

Your life may hold some ingredients you would never have chosen: a delay, a disappointment, a season that felt dry or bitter. This verse does not ask you to pretend those things are pleasant. It invites you to trust the Baker. The phrase "work together" tells us God is active, patient, and present, folding even the hard moments into something that nourishes. And the good He is shaping, as the next verse says, is a life growing more like Jesus.

So today, let your heart relax a little. Watch for small signs of the loaf rising: a kindness that came at just the right time, a lesson that made you gentler, a faith that grew deeper roots. The hands that formed you have not set your story down. The work is still going on, and the best is still coming out of the oven.

Today's prayer
Father, thank You that You are patient and good, and that nothing in my life is wasted in Your hands. Help me to trust You with every ingredient today, and fill my heart with joy as I watch You work. In Jesus' name, amen.
