There is something quietly astonishing in the words of this psalm: "This is the day which the LORD hath made." Not a day we manufactured, scheduled, or earned, but one that was made by Him and handed to us fresh this morning. Before you checked a message or planned a single task, God had already prepared this day and placed you in it.
Notice, too, that the psalmist doesn't say, "We will rejoice when the day goes well." He says we will rejoice and be glad in it. Joy here is a decision rooted in who made the day, not in how the hours will unfold. Some of today's moments will be bright and some may be ordinary or hard, yet each one is held within the hands of a faithful Maker. That changes how we can walk through them.
So try this: before the busyness begins, pause and name three small things you're thankful for right now. The warmth of a cup, a familiar voice, a breath of fresh air. Let gratitude open the day instead of hurry. Rejoicing doesn't have to be loud. It can be a quiet smile that says, "Lord, I see You here, and I'm glad."
