Ordinary Work Becomes an Offering to God

"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men."
— Colossians 3:23 (KJV)

There is a quiet secret tucked inside this verse: no task is too small to be holy. Paul wrote these words to people who washed floors, hauled loads, and served in households where no one thanked them. He did not tell them to find more important work. He told them to look up while they worked, and to see that Someone was watching with delight.

The word "heartily" means from the soul, with your whole self leaning in. It is not about perfection or impressing anyone. It is about presence. When you answer the email kindly, fold the laundry with care, or finish the report without cutting corners, you are handing God a small gift. He treasures it far more than any applause could match.

There is freedom here, too. If we work only for people, we are tired by every criticism and puffed up by every compliment. But when the Lord is our audience, we can rest. He sees what no one else notices, and He is always kind. So today, let your hands do their work gladly. Whatever is in front of you, offer it up with a smile, and watch how ordinary hours begin to shine.

Today's prayer
Lord, thank You for seeing me in every quiet task of this day. Help me to work with a glad heart, knowing it is all for You. Let my small efforts become a joyful offering. Amen.
