Run the kitchen tap and let the first glass fill slowly. Monday has barely started, and the water is already there, cold and free. Hold it a moment before you drink.
"O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is." — Psalm 63:1 (KJV)
This morning's prayer O God, you are my God. Before the dishes, before the inbox, before anyone needs anything from me, I come to you. Some of my ground feels dry this morning. Cracked, quiet, a little tired. But even here, you are still mine and I am still yours. Dust changes nothing about that. So I won't pretend I'm fine, and I won't wander off looking for a cheaper well. I'll stand right here and drink from you. Fill me the way this tap fills a glass: plainly, without being asked twice. Then send me into Monday with enough to hand a cup to somebody else. Amen.
