Nobody can describe a flavor well enough to replace the moment it touches your tongue. You can read about a fruit, hear friends praise it, even study where it grows, but you only really know it when you taste it. David knew this about God. He doesn't say, "Hear and agree" or "Study and conclude." He says, "Taste and see."
There is a gentle confidence in that invitation. God isn't nervous about being examined. He doesn't ask for blind loyalty first and evidence later. He opens the door and says, in effect, "Come close and find out. Bring your honest questions and your tired heart, and see what I am like." The goodness of the LORD is not a rumor to be repeated. It is something you can meet.
So where might you taste today? Perhaps in a quiet minute of prayer when you simply say thank you for the morning. Perhaps in a kindness that arrives just when you needed it, or in peace that settles over a worry you handed to Him. Notice it. Linger over it. The psalm promises that those who trust Him are blessed, and trust often begins as nothing more than a willingness to try. Let what you have personally tasted of His goodness become the ground you stand on today.
