Courage Is a Gift Already in Your Hands

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
— 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)

Paul wrote these words to Timothy, a young leader who was likely feeling the weight of his calling. Timothy was tempted to shrink back and hide his gifts. So Paul gently reminded him that fear was never something God handed him. What God gave was far better: power, love, and a sound mind.

Notice that these three gifts work together. Power without love can turn harsh, and love without a steady mind can wear us out. But when God gives all three, we are able to act with strength, care deeply, and think clearly. They are not feelings we have to manufacture. They are gifts already placed within us by the Holy Spirit, ready to be used.

So if something ahead of you feels too big today, a conversation, a decision, or a new beginning, remember that you are not facing it empty-handed. Take a slow breath and ask God to stir up what He has already given. You may not feel brave, but courage often shows up as the next small, faithful step. Walk forward gladly, because the One who equipped you walks right beside you.

Today's prayer
Father, thank You for giving me power, love, and a sound mind through Your Spirit. Stir up those gifts in me today and fill my heart with quiet confidence and joy. Help me step forward gladly, knowing You have already equipped me. In Jesus' name, amen.
