Fear has a way of creeping in quietly, whispering that we are too weak, too small, too unprepared for whatever the day holds. Paul reminds Timothy, and us, that this trembling spirit did not come from God. What God gives instead is something entirely different: power to act with courage, love that reaches beyond ourselves, and a mind that stays calm and clear even when circumstances feel uncertain.
Notice that these three gifts work together. Power without love can turn harsh. Love without a sound mind can grow anxious or reactive. But when the Spirit of God shapes us, we find strength that is gentle, love that is steady, and thinking that stays clear instead of scattered by worry. This is not a personality trait some people happen to have — it is a gift freely given to every believer who asks.
So today, when fear tries to speak first, you can answer with truth. You were not given a spirit of fear. You were given power to face what's ahead, love to carry you through it, and a sound mind to think clearly when everything else feels shaky. That is not wishful thinking — it is the inheritance of everyone who belongs to Christ.
