There is a word tucked into the middle of John 3:16 that changes everything: whosoever. Not the deserving, not the perfect, not the ones who have it all figured out — whosoever. God's love was never a narrow beam aimed at a select few; it is a flood poured out over the whole world, wide enough to reach every name, every story, every wandering heart.
Think about what it cost to say those words. God did not send a message or a suggestion. He gave His only Son, the dearest thing heaven held, so that the distance between us could be closed for good. That is not a cautious love that keeps score or holds back. That is a love that empties itself completely, trusting that the gift is worth the cost.
And the response asked of us is simple: believe. Not earn, not achieve, not clean yourself up first — just believe, and receive what has already been freely given. Everlasting life is not a reward waiting at the end of a long list of accomplishments. It is a gift extended right now, today, to whosoever will simply reach out and take hold of it.
