Before your alarm ever rang this morning, before you checked your phone or planned your schedule, God had already decided that today would exist. He shaped its hours the way a potter shapes clay—intentionally, with purpose, long before you opened your eyes. This day is not an accident slipped in between yesterday's regrets and tomorrow's worries. It is a gift, handed to you on purpose.
Rejoicing doesn't require everything to go right. The psalmist wrote these words in the middle of real struggle, surrounded by enemies and hardship, yet still chose gladness because the day itself belonged to the Lord. That's the quiet strength hidden in this verse: joy isn't a reaction to circumstances, it's a response to who made the day. You can face difficult meetings, uncertain diagnoses, or heavy conversations and still say, this day is His, and I will meet it with Him.
So instead of mentally skipping ahead to the weekend or replaying what went wrong yesterday, try staying right here, in these twenty-four hours. Notice the sunlight through the window, the voice of someone who loves you, the breath filling your lungs. None of it was guaranteed, yet all of it was given. Let today be enough. Let it be received, not just endured, because the One who made it is still writing something good into it.
