Good morning, and happy Saturday. Look out the window if you can: the grass is wet, the light is low, and nobody has walked across any of it yet. This day is just as unmarked, and God is already standing in it.
"Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee." — Psalm 143:8 (KJV)
This morning's prayer Lord, the grass is wet and no one has crossed it yet. Neither has this day. I lift my soul to you like open hands. Let me hear your lovingkindness before I hear my list. I trust you, even with the parts I can't see past the fence. Show me the way I should walk. I don't need the whole map, only the next step, and then the next. Saturday has no bell ringing, so be my pace. Lead me toward the person who needs a visit, the work that deserves my hands, and the rest I'm allowed to take. When I wander, call me back kindly. I leave my footprints in your morning. Amen.
Today, on purpose:
Walk outside for five minutes and thank God for the morning.
