Good morning. It's Tuesday, and the day is still folded like a clean shirt. Before you put your arms through it, hear this: kindness met you at the window, and faithfulness will be waiting at the door tonight.
"To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night." — Psalm 92:2 (KJV)
This morning's prayer Lord, I open my mouth this morning and the first thing out of it is thanks. You were kind before I woke. You kept watch while I slept, and you didn't once look at the clock. Now the light is on the floor and your love is in it. Let me say so out loud today. Let me tell someone what you've done. Let me notice the small, ordinary mercies: warm water, a working key, a familiar voice. And when evening comes and I'm tired and my shoes are off, I will say it again. You were faithful. You always are. Amen.
Today, on purpose:
Name one kindness of God out loud before noon.
Tell one person about something God has done.
Tonight, say thank you before turning off the light.
