He Reads to You in the Dark

🕊 Let Providence read it to you

The dryer buzzer has gone quiet, and the phone is face-down on the nightstand. The grocery list can stay stuck to the fridge, and the unanswered texts will keep till morning. Nothing more is asked of your hands tonight.

"I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons."
— Psalm 16:7 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer
Lord, I bless You. You have counseled me all day, even when I was too busy to hear. Now the house is still, and I am listening. Teach my heart the way a father reads to a sleepy child, slowly, with a low and steady voice. Let whatever I need to know rise gently, and let the rest fall away unread. I don't have to solve anything. I only have to rest and be taught. You are kind to speak in the dark. Thank You for this bed, for the people under this roof, for the good things today held, and for a Voice that never tires of me. Amen.
Blessing for your rest
May the Lord who counsels you speak softly to you tonight, and may every sleeper in your home wake rested and glad. Goodnight, beloved. You are kept.

Have Providence read you to sleep
