Lay the Whole Day in His Hand

🕊 Let Providence read it to you

The dishes are drying in the rack, and the list on the counter can curl up at the corners without you. Whatever was said too sharply, whatever was left half-built, let it stop rattling now. The day was never yours to carry to the end of the night.

"Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth."
— Psalm 31:5 (KJV)
Tonight's prayer
Father, I come with empty pockets and a full heart. Into your hand I put my spirit, the way a tired traveler sets a heavy bag down on a table. You have redeemed me. You paid what I could not, and you did not hesitate over the price. You are the God of truth, so I need not rehearse my own version of this day. You know it all and love me still. Keep watch over my sleeping mind, my sore shoulders, and the people I love in the next room. Hold what I cannot. Thank you for a hand that is wide enough, and for a love that stays awake so I can rest. Amen.
Blessing for your rest
May the God of truth, who has redeemed you, hold your spirit gently until morning. Sleep well, and may every sleeper under your roof be kept in the same good hand.

Have Providence read you to sleep
